CHURCH COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe, by the Holy Spirit, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour; having been baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

 

We engage therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, and in accordance with the Word of God, to walk together in Christian love and holiness; to promote the prosperity and spirituality of this church; to be faithful to its worship services, its ordinances and ministry, and to undertake the spread of the Gospel into all the world.

 

We shall, by the grace of God, maintain family and secret devotions; educate our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord; walk circumspectly in the world; be just in our dealings and exemplary in our deportment; we shall avoid all tattling, backbiting, anger, and all other unchristian actions abstaining from all appearance of evil, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Saviour.

 

We shall, watch over one another in brotherly love; remembering to pray for one another; to aid one another in ill health and distress; to be courteous and honest in speech and action; to be slow to take offence, but eager to reconcile differences; we shall endeavour to act Christ‑like in all our dealings.

 

We shall, upon moving from this community, as soon as is possible, unite with another church of like faith and practice where we can carry out the spirit of this Covenant in obedience to God's Holy Word.
